Touch Girl Apple Blossom - "Vacation"

After hearing the first single off Touch Girl Apple Blossom's upcoming album, I declared that it was going to be a strong contender for album of the year. Now that we've heard a second single, I stand by that statement. "Vacation" is just dripping with 90's jangle pop goodness. The upcoming album will be released on K Records, and if that means something to you, you're going to adore this track. It's bright and sunny with enough of a melancholy hint to keep it from getting too sugary. It's also the perfect song for the false spring we're experiencing in New England currently. "Vacation" is highly addictive, and it's been on a possibly endless repeat since I first hit play. Touch Girl Apple Blossom are 90's influenced indie rock at its finest.

Liam Kazar - "Shoes Too Tight"

Photo by Alexa Viscius This may be Liam Kazar's debut single, but the Chicago based musician already has an impressive resume, having worked with Jeff Tweedy, Chance the Rapper, Steve Gunn, Daniel Johnston, and others. "Shoes Too Tight" features childhood friend Spencer Tweedy on drums, Lane Beckstrom on bass, and Ohmme on vocals. It's an absurdly fun and groovy little song that is a party waiting to happen. What he gives us here is a timeless song that could truly have been released any time since the 1960's (ok... maybe not the 80's...) There are elements of classic rock, 60's crooners and R&B, indie rock, modern Americana... it's really just packed with everything in a cohesive song that maintains the vibe the entire way through. Izzy Heltai - "Father"

His latest single, "Father," might be the perfect example of that. It's a quiet, deeply personal song that starts off painfully sparse but ever so slowly builds and builds as it goes on. Lex Leosis - "Mind Your Business"

Lex Leosis might be Toronto based, but she spent a lot of time in California's Bay Area working on her hip hop sound. She's also traveled all over the United States to collaborate with other artists. Her latest single, "Mind Your Business," has a strong 90's hip hop feel to it. It's dripping with attitude, and Leosis's flow is in full on attack mode. The 90's vibe could be because of the fact that there is no R&B chorus, keeping the song pure hip hop, which is rare these days. This reminds me a lot of Oompa's songs, which is a huge compliment coming from us. You can listen to "Mind Your Business" below.
