It's almost hypnotic in its pace and sound. The music seems almost monotone at times, over a surprisingly lively hip hop beat. The song has kind of a 90's alt-rock sound from the period where electronic elements started sneaking into mainstream rock bordering on trip hop. Included with that is some of the wall of fuzz associated with shoegaze. "Rapids" has such a unique sound while also feeling like a sonic warm blanket of familiarity.
