Stormstress - "Fall With You"

Metal and hard rock aren't typically our things here at If It's Too Loud..., but we can still appreciate the genres, especially when a band is as kick ass as Stormstress. On their latest single, "Fall With You," the Boston trio is revitalizing an often (unfairly) mocked style: The metal power ballad. For those of us that remember the late 80's and Def Leppard's insane run at the top of Dial MTV that inspired Adam Curry to practically beg viewers to vote for anything else, the metal power ballad brings up warm, fuzzy feelings of our youth. Sure, most of these songs are of the cheesy variety, but Stormstress pull off the rare power ballad that still rocks. This is a direct descendent of Lita Ford and Ozzy Osbourne's immortal "Close My Eyes Forever," and who doesn't need more of that in their lives? In a Facebook post, Stormstress talks about their new single: “'Fall With You,' dares to dig deep into the dark depths of the heart and matt...

Stormstress - "You Can't Hurt Me Now"

We don't cover a huge amount of metal or hard rock here at If It's Too Loud, so you know when we do it's gotta be killer. Formed during a bomb cyclone and under the Hunter moon, Boston's Stormstress, consisting of mirror twins Tanya Venom (lead vocals/guitar) and Tia Mayhem (bass/vocals) and their friend Maddie May Scott (drums/vocals), have released a new song. "You Can't Hurt Me Now" is throwback metal for 2020. It's the kind of thrashy metal with actually sung vocals that you rarely get these days. It's heavy and fast and just drives straight at the listener. This will remind you of the days when metal was cool.  You can watch the video for "You Can't Hurt Me Now" below. The song is available as a single on Stormstress' Bandcamp . For more on Stormstress, check out their website .

Photo by Fuel Heart Productions Here at If It's Too Loud... we bring you music we truly love. Typically that falls into the indie rock, folk, punk, garage rock, etc world, with occasional trips into the world of hip hop and pop. One thing we don't cover that much is metal, but every so often something slips into our consciousness that we simply have to bring you.  Right now that is Boston's Stormstress. Led by identical twin sisters Tanya Venom and Tia Mayhem and joined by Maddie May Scot on drums, Stormstress is a powerhouse trio that rocks huge metal riffs. Their latest single, "Paint the Mask," is a huge rock song that rarely gets made these days. It's incredibly theatrical, like Alice Cooper and Meatloaf levels of theatrics, which is really rare in music these days. "Paint the Mask" is great if you loved early The Darkness but wished they weren't so ridiculously silly. You can watch the video for "Paint the Mask" below. For ...
