Bear Grass - "Who Are You"

Bear Grass, the musical project of upstate New York's Katie Hammon, has a new single out off of their upcoming album. Hammon has always pushed past the boundaries of what is considered folk music, and "Who Are You" pushes even further. The song is described as an "electro folk meditation," and it's very heavy on the electro side of things. Folk purists aren't going to want to consider this one folk, and in theory I would agree, but no matter how electronic the music of "Who Are You" is, there's just something undeniably folky about it. It still feels organic and heartfelt, and isn't that what truly makes something folk?

You can listen to "Who Are You" below. Distance is due out later this year, with a new single being released every six weeks leading up to the album's release. For more on Bear Grass, check out the artist's website.
