Flowers for the Dead - "Ladybug"

Some songs immediately strike you, and that's how it was for me with Flowers from the Dead's "Ladybug." The song has that indie rock meets pop sound that we can't get enough of, but this one stands out from others. The song has these great slacker style harmonies with a killer edge to the music. It's indie rock leaning into shoegaze, but with quite a punch behind it. The guitars are delightfully noisy, going completely against yet complementing the vocal harmonies perfectly. It's making me think of Momma meets Sonic Youth, with some Glixen thrown in. "Ladybug" is a great song, and after hearing it you'll be immediately checking out Flowers for the Dead's previous releases.
Singer/guitarist Jessie Szego says of the band's new single:
“After a few months of continuous writer's block and the departure of our former bassist, we really felt a huge energy shift within our own personal lives that I think led to the writing and formation of ‘Ladybug,’ I think you can hear that energy shift in the music; new beginnings, a fresh start, and the beginning of a huge creative spark for us. We had started writing with our friend Naomi, who had recently filled in for us on bass last fall on our tour opening for Die Spitz. The synergy had already been established on the road, and translated really well into our writing process."
