Babehoven - "Birdseye"

Babehoven are now based in New York, although their latest single doesn't quite reflect that sound. "Birdseye" is an absolutely lovely and dreamy alt-folk song. It's not even remotely traditional folk, and is probably more folk adjacent than anything else. The song just sweeps you up and is somehow both quiet and epic. If I'm being forced to compare it to another artist, it's a more organic sounding version of And the Kids. What's truly interesting about "Birdseye" is how it captures a certain sunniness while still feeling melancholy.

Maya Bon says of the band's new single:

‘Birdseye’ is about the fragility and mystery of life, forgiveness, and reconnection. The bird's eye view with 'one long arrow pointed at you' represents love from afar, a cardinal direction. It is a song about warmth, represented by the aromatic spices ginger, nutmeg, and cinnamon in the heat of a stew. Steeped in a perfumed simmer of care, we move through the pain and find a way to forgive.

You can watch the video for "Birdseye" below. Water's Here In You is due out April 26 on Double Double Whammy, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Babehoven, check out the band's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the video.
