Phoebe Go - "7 Up"

Melbourne's Phoebe Go has an interesting sound. Her latest single, "7 Up," is definitely a pop song, but it's also fairly folky. As pop as it is, it's not quite in the realm of most R&B based modern Top 40 music, but it's definitely too dance for even the modern definition of folk. To me it sounds like a current day 2024 version of Sheryl Crow's more pop focused music. It's a fun and upbeat single that has more than its share of melancholy in the lyrics. Phoebe Go is possibly releasing her debut full length album later this year, so you're going to want to climb on board for her sooner than later.

Phoebe Go says of her latest single:

“I didn't plan on writing this song, but I think it was time. I guess I realized that I’d been putting someone else before myself for a while, which is sweet, you know, but it gets old and it gets tiring. ‘7 Up’ is about seeing something through different eyes. It’s about setting some shit straight.”
