India Ramey - "We Ride at Dawn"

Image
Photo by Stacie Huckeba For her latest single, India Ramey has chosen "We Ride at Dawn," a spaghetti western song about women's bodily autonomy being stripped away. The Nashville artist has crafted a classic country song with an unfortunately modern message. This is the kind of song that you can enjoy just on a surface level with its vintage sound. The power of the song is audible without paying attention to the lyrics, but once you focus on the words, "We Ride at Dawn" is an instant feminist anthem. Ramey has created a powerful and uplifting anthem that is much needed in 2026. You can watch the video for "We Ride at Dawn" below. Villain Era is due out May 8 on Copaco Records/Blue Elan Records. India Ramey - "Scattered and Smothered"

Photo by eyeofdoll India Ramey's latest single is being described as a "Waffle House confessional," and if that doesn't make you want to listen to "Scattered and Smothered," I don't know what will. The Nashville artist has created a fun and twangy new single about being "stifled by a good man and needing to break free." One of the early lines is about "Looking like Alice Cooper in a little black dress," which might be my favorite line of the year. It's a funny song without getting too jokey, and helps move classic country into the current century. Plus, it helps capture the legend of being in a Waffle House at 2:00 am, complete with fights and drunkenness. Based on the two singles we've heard so far, we can't wait until May for India Ramey's latest album (and for this snow to finally melt...) You can listen to "Scattered and Smothered" below. Villain Era is due out May 8 on Copaco/Blue Elan Records. For more ...

India Ramey - "Welcome to My Villain Era"

Photo credit: Eye of Doll It's been a while since we've heard from India Ramey, but now the country singer-songwriter is back with a new single. "Welcome to My Villain Era" is a barnburner of a song. It's as twangy as possible, and is overflowing with swagger. What's so perfect about this single is how country it is. This is true country without a hint of any modern pop country. It fits right in with classic artists like Wanda Jackson and Loretta Lynn, and modern artists like Margo Price. Plus, there's just enough of a rock edge and attitude. "Welcome to My Villain Era" is a fun, and kick ass song. India Ramey says of her upcoming album: “This album is the ‘healed’ me. I spent years as a people pleaser, not knowing how to have boundaries. I lost sight of who I really was. These songs are about reclaiming that.” You can listen to "Welcome to My Villain Era" below. Villain Era is due out May 8 on Copaco Records/Blue Elan Records.
