Boston's Miracle Blood have a new song and video out for a track recorded during the sessions for Hello Hell. "Wasteland" simply shows how great of a band Miracle Blood is, considering a track as great as this didn't make the cut for their album. It's a behemoth of a song, residing somewhere in between punk and metal. The song is loud, it's heavy, it's thrashy... it's everything we love about Miracle Blood. Somehow, even after all their accolades, Miracle Blood remains one of the most underrated bands in the Boston music scene. Their latest single, "Blazing Entrails," is a fast and loud just over two minute burst of sonic noise. For this one, the volume matches the subject matter deals with the anxiety we all live with every single moment of our lives in 2026. Sometimes you need a song that reflects the craziness of modern life, and Miracle Blood do just that. This song is pure metal meets punk chaos (although I'd put this one more in the metal category), with singer/guitarist Andrew Wong's carnival baker vocals fitting the subject matter and chaos perfectly. It's been a while since we've brought you any free music, but luckily for us all Miracle Blood are back to change that. The Boston punk/metal band just released the seven track Live at New Alliance Audio , a live recording from the 2023 New Alliance holiday party. This is one of my favorite live bands putting out a performance for the "name your price" option, and I couldn't be more thrilled. This isn't a heavily produced and smoothed out live album. You hear Andrew Wong's voice crack at times, which is all part of a true live recording. As much as I've loved their albums Hello Hell and Melter , Miracle Blood is a band you simply need to experience live. As much as I love Halloween, I didn't end up doing a lot of Halloween things this year (except for watching more horror movies than normal). For some reason, most of my holiday activities seem to be happening in November. This included Sapling's Halloween Hangover show at Electric Haze in Worcester with Miracle Blood, The Freqs, and Nicholas Burgess. Plus, it was a matinee, and who doesn't want to check out a rock show and be home for dinner? Opening up the show was Nicholas Burgess, playing as a duo with a second guitarist. His set was the most Halloweeny by far, with songs about Frankenstein and his new single written for the occasion, "The Day After Halloween." It was my first time seeing Burgess perform live after discovering his more spooky music, and it was as fun as I expected. He was also decidedly the most mellow artist of the afternoon, which was a good way to ease everyone into a daylight rock show, especially as the crowd was still wandering in off the...

Despite being a further drive than Boston, I love getting down to Providence for shows. It's nice to not drive on the exact same road every time, and everything about that city is just more laid back. Plus, Sapling and Miracle Blood were playing a brewery where some people were going to be just looking to have a drink and conversation with friends, but would be subjected to Sapling and Miracle Blood. How could I resist that? First up was So Over It!, a "queer punk band from Rhode Island." I was completely unfamiliar with them, but they made a great impression on me. Their music had such a raw energy and sound to it. It wasn't quite noise punk, but it stopped just short of that level. It was a set filled with angst and aggression, but they somehow made it fun. Maybe it's just me, but I'm always skeptical when a band announces their new single is their heaviest yet. Leave it to Miracle Blood to actually pull it off. "Hello Hell" is heavy. Really heavy. It might be the most traditionally metal sounding song Miracle Blood has put out so far. The song combines doom and sludge with the punk edge that is needed to truly be a Miracle Blood song. What truly makes this band unique is that as heavy and loud and obviously angry a song like "Hello Hell" is, there is still that sense of fun that sets them apart from their peers. All Miracle Blood songs are great. That's just a fact. But "Hello Hell" is especially great. Some triple bills are just impossible to resist. When Miracle Blood announced they would be holding their album release show at Deep Cuts, I knew I had to make it. Mostly because Miracle Blood are a fantastic band and great live, but Sapling and BEDTIMEMAGIC were also playing the show. I try to see Sapling every chance I get, and I've been meaning to see BEDTIMEMAGIC for a while. BEDTIMEMAGIC opened the show wearing matching pug singlets. I don't believe I knew they were a duo, but they made some of the biggest racket I've ever seen two people make. Both members (Nicholas on bass and Morgan on drums) shared vocal duties. Their sound was like a mixture of art/noise rock and hardcore. It was loud, it was impossible to ignore, and it was great. The floor of Deep Cuts rumbled during their entire set. We've been fully on board with Miracle Blood for a while now. The Boston trio meld punk and metal together in such a brilliantly unique way, and in a way that feels far more celebratory than either genre typically gets. Their latest single, "Phenomenon," starts out leaning more heavily into the metal side of things, until it veers more heavily into punk. From there, the song is somehow both more punk and more metal than anything they've ever released. It's loud, it's fast, it's heavy, and it's just about perfection. Deep Thoughts is a record store in the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston that has hosted a Grateful Dead night on Fridays in their used book basement, and recently started to have more indie rock shows every so often. It's a great space, albeit one with Dead logos all over the place and the distraction of wanting to look at books everywhere. This past Thursday, they hosted three bands with little in common besides all three being trios: Perennial, Miracle Blood, and Muzzins. It ended up being a perfect mixture of styles for the night. Muzzins opened the evening with their completely unique blend of electronic music, hip hop, jazz, indie rock, punk, and whatever else they feel like throwing in that day. This is the fifth or so time I've seen Muzzins in the past year, and it's always a completely different show. Their latest single, "Swollen," is reminding me a lot of 90's hard rocking bands that weren't quite metal but seemed to get along well with the metal crowd and were at home at Lollapalooza or Warped Tour. I'm hearing the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Helmet, Toadies, etc. It's loud, and hard, and shouty, and who doesn't need that occasionally? Boston's Miracle Blood might have just released the heaviest song about wanting to be a small dog of all time. "Pomeranian" is a ferocious song with just enough yelling and droning guitar fuzz to perfectly blend punk, metal, and indie rock. Its pounding drums keep the song at a plodding pace that threatens to explode but never quite does, which makes the song even more intriguing. Instead of the whole indie rock loud/quiet/loud template it goes more along the lines of loud/louder/not quite as loud/even louder/loud. Boston's Miracle Blood have one of the most interesting and classic sounds in the city. Their latest single, "Like a Round Hole Through a Square Peg" is one of the loudest things we've covered in a long time. It's equal parts noise rock, punk, and metal. It starts off mostly like a metal song with some of the most killer riffs imaginable, and then it goes into an almost Jello Biafra meets the Pixies territory. Most metal/noise rock doesn't usually fit the indie rock loud/quiet/loud thing, but Miracle Blood almost does. Then again, this is more of a loud/less loud and slower/loud template. As venues open and shows are ramping up again, I haven't been quite comfortable going inside a venue yet. My COVID anxiety hasn't settled down yet, so for right now I'm sticking with outdoor venues. Luckily, Ralph's, everyone's favorite dive bar/punk and metal club in Worcester, is currently hosting shows outside on their "patio." Patio is in quotations since it's really more of the end of their parking lot that's kinda cordoned off with some tables and chairs. There's a PA, but no lighting system except for streetlights and some string lights. In other words, it's pretty perfect if you know and love Ralph's. I finally made it down to one of these since Service was playing. They are one of my favorite discoveries from last year, and I couldn't wait to see their ultra-aggressive noise punk in person.
