If It's Too Loud...

Portland, OR's Reptaliens are more known for their synth-heavy sound, but for their upcoming album they went with a more guitar oriented approach. This was mainly due to the lockdown, but despite their new single being more rock, this new sound won't lose them any fans. "I Feel Fine" may not have any synths, but it still has a dreamy sound that fits right in with the duo's other releases. The song feels like if Belle & Sebastian went a little psychedelic, but that could also be my knowledge that Reptaliens work on a weed farm as their day job. "I Feel Fine" is an incredibly catchy indie rock/pop song that lives in the world between rock and twee. You can watch the video for "I Feel Fine" below. Multiverse is due out on January 21 via Captured Tracks, and can be pre-ordered/pre-saved here . For more on Reptaliens, check out the band on Twitter and Instagram . I don't quite know what I expected from a band called Reptaliens, but this isn't quite it. Maybe I expected something heavier, kind of like Supersuckers or Butthole Surfers. Instead, "Like a Dog," the first single off the band's upcoming album, is this light and airy song. The song is reminiscent of the kind of trippiness and psychedelia you heard in the early 90's. I mean, the band's day job is on a weed farm, and the song was inspired by listening to Jane's Addiction's song "Been Caught Stealing," so the sound does make sense. "Like a Dog" has a little bit of a Jane's Addiction meets Stereolab vibe, so there's quite a lot to love here. You can watch the video for "Like a Dog" below.
