Last month's "teeth filed down" was more pop, but the latest from Massachusetts raised, current Brooklyn resident Nathalie Miller expands on that sound. "you're in my bed" is still a pop song, but it's more of a pop song in the way that current musicians blur the lines between indie rock and pop. Particularly at the beginning, the song sounds more like a 90's singer-songwriter track, before a more alt-pop side sneaks in. It kind of has a Natalie Imbruglia meets Phoebe Bridgers quality to it. The song is almost painfully intimate, despite being a quiet epic. The closest thing we have to a complaint about "you're in my bed" is that it leaves us wanting more and more from Nathalie Miller. You're going to want to jump on this bandwagon now, because if there is any justice left in this world, she's going to end up being (rightfully) huge.
Nathalie Miller says of her latest single:
“‘you’re in my bed’ is about being haunted by someone everywhere you go, even though they’re not actually there. Like ‘you’re in my bed’ even when you’re not. When this relationship I was writing about ended, literally everything reminded me of her, even things that had nothing to do with her.”
You can watch the video for "you're in my bed" below. i'd like to think you saved me is due out on November 13. For more on Nathalie Miller, check out the artist's website.
