Jae Skeese featuring Flee Lord & Conway the Machine - "Against tha Grain"

Image
The latest from Jae Skeese is an interesting slice of laid back rap. With production by Cee Gee and verses by Flee Lord and Conway the Machine, "Against tha Grain" has an odd dreamlike quality. Musically it's quite sparse with mostly just beats and a repeated series of notes that sounds like it's been sampled from a Disney animated film. While it's laid back, "Against tha Grain" is fairly upbeat and has an almost party vibe. If anything, it's sounds like an almost whimsical Wu-Tag song that still has a hip hop edge. You can watch the video for "Against tha Grain" below. Iroquois Pliskin will be out on Drumwork Music Group this Spring. For more on Jae Skeese, check out the artist's Twitter and Instagram .

Conway the Machne with Benny the Butcher and Westside Gunn - "John Woo Flick"

Image
Photo via Facebook I hate comparing every hip hop song I like to the 90's and Wu-Tang Clan in particular, but if a song is called "John Woo Flick" it's kind of hard not to. The latest from Conway the Machine features Benny the Butcher and Westside Gunn, and it features the same kind of sparse kung fu influenced production we heard on Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). This is just the kind of classic old school hip hop we absolutely love here at If It's Too Loud... that we wish we heard more of. "John Woo Flick" is that slow kind of rap song that seems to pace around in your head with just the slightest trace of menacing undertones. That being said, this is a fun song and a killer collaboration. You can watch the video for "John Woo Flick" below. God Don't Make Mistakes is due out February 25 on Shady/Interscope Records. Remedy starring Conway The Machine, Ghostface Killah, and Cappadonna - "The Pulpit"

Image
The latest single from Wu-Tang affiliated rapper Remedy is going to sound especially like Wu-Tang Clan since it features both Ghostface Killah and Cappadonna. "The Pulpit" sounds like it could have been taken straight off 1997's Wu-Tang Forever. It doesn't quite have the grit of Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). Instead it's that huge cinematic sound that later albums had. It's a gritty beat over a moody string section that sets an edgy atmosphere for the four MCs. If you're a fan of classic 90's hip hop or Wu-Tang (and, really, who loves 90's hip hop without being a huge Wu-Tang fan?), you're going to love this latest song from Remedy. You can listen to "The Pulpit" below. Remedy Meets Wu-Tang is due out November 26. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here . For more on Remedy, check out the artist on Facebook and Twitter .

Conway The Machine - "Piano Love"

Image
There isn't much piano based hip hop out there, but the latest from Conway The Machine changes that. "Piano Love" features the MC rapping over piano keys and quiet beats that mostly stay in the background. The piano feels like a bizarre little loop of notes that don't exactly form a melody. It's more like the tinkling of keys that you'd find in a haunted house than an actual song. It's the exact opposite of modern hip hop, which is mostly giant, thundering beats and overproduced throw everything in the song production. This is closer to early Wu-Tang Clan with it's more sparse production. You can listen to "Piano Love" below. God Don't Make Mistakes is forthcoming and will be out on Shady Records.
