Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight Cover 'Til Tuesday

Image
No stranger to a cover song, Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight have issued a cover of 'Til Tuesday's "Voices Carry." It's one of the most iconic songs for any Boston based band to take off, and The Middle Eight nail it. It's faithful enough for any casual fan of the song to immediately recognize, and it's solidly a New Wave song, but the cover is a little more dark (no shock there) and with a little grunge in the guitar. Any great cover needs to be fun, and Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight are clearly enjoying taking on Aimee Mann's most popular songs. This is a great cover, and one you're going to love checking out. You can listen to Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight's version of "Voices Carry" below. The song is available exclusively via Bandcamp . Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight Cover Til Tuesday

Image
Photo via Facebook There is a great tradition of Boston bands covering 'Til Tuesday's iconic "Voices Carry" that started off with Gang Green in 1986 when the original was still fairly current. The latest to carry the "Voices Carry" torch is Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight who released their version earlier this month. This new version starts off like The Middle Eight are trying to out New Wave 'Til Tuesday, but there is a lot of crunchy rock guitar in here. What truly carries the song is Shae's vocals (no pun intended, I assure you). She has a punk rock growl in her voice that draws the listener in. While this version of the iconic song is definitely a heavier and more rock one, it's truly a tribute to the original classic. You can listen to "Voices Carry" below. The song is available as a download over at Bandcamp . For more on Gretchen Shae & The Middle Eight, check out the band's Facebook . Voices Carry by Gretchen Shae ...
