Annabelle Chairlegs - "Patty Get Your Gun"

Image
Photo by Pooneh Ghana Austin's Annabelle Chairlegs, aka Lindsey Mackin, has one last single out before her album is released tomorrow. "Patty Get Your Gun" is a slice of indie rock meets singer-songwriter. The song has some wonderfully dirty guitar and the slightest hint of twang. It's there, but not enough to qualify as any variation of country. While her previous two singles have had an indie rock meets pop sound, "Patty Get Your Gun" is the least pop of the three. It's more indie rock meets garage rock with some pop sprinkled in. As much as we loved "Heavy Sleeper" and "Concrete Trees," this latest one might be what makes us Annabelle Chairlegs superfans.  Lindsey Mackin says of her latest single: "Be about sumthin’. Be curious. Have humility. Join your community and fight for what you believe in and also fight for those who can’t. The world is on fire and we should be on fire too." You can listen to "Patty Get Your ...

Annabelle Chairlegs - "Heavy Sleeper"

Photo by Colin Shields Back in October, we brought you "Concrete Trees" from Annabelle Chairlegs, the moniker of Austin based musician Lindsey Mackin. We were blown away by her mixture of pop and indie rock. Now, Mackin is back with "Heavy Sleeper" which keeps the pop meets indie rock sound going, possibly even more intensely. The song sounds like a more modern version of PJ Harvey influenced for the pop instincts of Liz Phair. The song takes a few seconds to truly kick in, but once it does you're just along for the ride. Lindsey Mackin says of her latest single: “ Heavy Sleeper is the nightmare that exists in and out of sleep. We are fully free in our sleep- as we also actually are when we are awake, so which is where we are? Is it a nightmare or is it a dream?” You can watch the video for ...

Annabelle Chairlegs - "Concrete Trees"

Photo by Pooneh Ghana Annabelle Chairlegs is the musical moniker of Austin based Lindsey Mackin. Her latest single, "Concrete Trees," is an odd and amazing mixture of pop and indie rock. This isn't the usual blend of pop and indie rock we typically bring you. This song has the harder edge of bands like Sonic Youth, but filtered through a modern alt-pop lens. As familiar as the sound is, there's still a whiplash effect as your brain realizes what's happening. "Concrete Trees" is noisy, raw, and abrasive, but it's also leaning into being irresistibly dance friendly. Annabelle Chairlegs has made quite the introduction for us, and we're thrilled to hear more. Lindsey Mackin says of her new single: "This is a song I wrote about a friend, Steph, who passed away. A sprint through Manhattan with a ghost!  We grew up together and worked at a Scottish butcher shop in Kearny, NJ along with some of our other friends, my great aunt Mary, and the owner/bu...
