Jess Williamson - "Smoke"

The upcoming album from Jess Williamson is out in two weeks, and today we can share the final single from the album. "Smoke" is everything we loved about the previous two singles, but it does go in a slightly different direction. It's a mainstream modern folk/pop song, except it does lean much more heavily into classic country. Plus, most other mainstream folk/pop doesn't sound quite this dark. Williamson also brings us an insane amount of psychedelia in "Smoke." It all creates this blend of dark folk/pop psychedelia that starts off being a familiar sound and morphs into something completely unique.

Jess Williamson says of "Smoke": This song is about a codependent relationship. It’s told from the perspective of the person who keeps giving and giving, and, on some level, they like it."

You can watch the video for "Smoke" below. Sorceress, the upcoming album from Jess Williamson, will be out May 15 on Mexican Summer. You can pre-order a copy here. For more on Jess Williamson, check out her website.
