One of the most intriguing announcements for this year's Boston Calling was the return of the arena. When the line up was revealed, there was also a promise that the arena would be utilized in 2025, but no one knew exactly what that meant. There was plenty of online speculation, mostly that it would the return of comedy or it would be used for EDM artists. Instead, Boston Calling recently announced that they were teaming with Berklee to showcase jazz students in the arena. This was a completely unexpected announcement, and I personally love it. I've wanted to crack the local jazz scene in Boston for a while, and this is a great opportunity. Plus, this will lead to a lot of the Boston Calling audience seeing live jazz for the first time, which is certainly not a bad thing.
Boston Calling will run from May 23 to 25 at the Harvard Athletic Complex. For more on the festival, check out the official website.
