Miesha and The Spanks - "Fight My Body"

It's been a few years since we've brought you any new music from Miesha and The Spanks, but now the Calgary band are back with a new single. "Fight My Body" keeps their modern day garage rock sound but adds in more than a little bit of a pop sound in. This is still a full out rock song, it's just as catchy as a pop song can get. It's a fun and uplifting song despite (or because of?) the subject matter. "Fight My Body" is the perfect rock song to pogo or full out dance to. Somehow Miesha and The Spanks have added pop to their garage rock style and come out with something a little extra punk.
Miesha Louie says of her latest single:
"Fight My Body is a lament to the frustrations of fighting with ones’ body, trying to fit how we see ourselves or maybe want to be seen. For myself - I barely remember a time I wasn’t on some sort of diet, spending my childhood up to 13 in ballet. It also replays my relationship with my body - did I take care of her? Did I put her at risk? I don’t want to be too specific with my story within the lyrics, because I think this is something everyone has felt at one point or another for any reason, some more than others. Sometimes it is excruciating to try and live in your body, to look at that body and not see yourself, who you know you are, or who you know you could be."
