Other Brother Darryl - "Too Right"

Other Brother Darryl's upcoming album is highly anticipated around here, so we're thrilled to bring you a new single while we're all waiting. "Too Right" is the brightest we've ever heard the Boston cosmic country band sound so far. It's interesting to hear a song so laid back and so upbeat, but Other Brother Darryl are pulling it off. This is the kind of song just begging to be played outside at a summer festival. We typically recoil from music this cheerful sounding, but when it's this good even we are unable to deny enjoying it. "Too Right" sounds like pre-Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Wilco meets The Band. We've been Other Brother Darryl diehards for a while, and they keep surprising us with every release.

Nate Leavitt (guitarist/co-lead vocalist) says of the band's upcoming album:

“This album really shows how we create as an entire band. The last album was created while putting this band together. This time, the band was already in place and everyone had a defined role musically. It was almost like having a house band or studio full of session musicians, ready to take on a song idea. Creatively, it really made for a more cohesive sound compared to the last album. Plus, knowing our roles as players, along with what works musically for Other Brother Darryl, it’s a more defined sound and reflects more clearly on what we want our band to sound like.”

You can listen to "Too Right" below. Hey Yeah Hey is due out June 26. For more on Other Brother Darryl, check out the band's website. They'll be playing this Saturday at Bellforge Arts Center in Medfield for the New England Americana Festival. More info on that show can be found here.
