All Get Out - "Come Back Around"

South Carolina's All Get Out are labelled as folk-rock, and that's not entirely untrue. Their latest single, "Come Back Around," is reminding me more of post-grunge 90's artists like Gin Blossoms and Toad the Wet Sprocket mixed with the epic alt-rock of Band of Horses. The song has buzzy guitars soaring to huge heights while still staying rooted in Americana. This might not be truly traditional folk, but if artists like Courtney Barnett and Dinosaur Jr can play the Newport Folk Festival, All Get Out can be considered firmly folk rock with some indie rock flourishes.

Frontman Nathan Hussey says of his band's upcoming album:

“My hope for this record is to reach a new audience. And that’s harder than making a new record. Because I want to reach the people who don’t know our band, but who would probably like this if they ever heard it. I didn’t really walk into this record with a theme, and I didn’t really walk out of it with one, either. It’s just me writing. I had nothing to prove, and nothing to overcome. I just had to write, and that’s what I did.”
