Eli Paperboy Reed featuring Zaniah - "Love You More"

It's hard to believe that Eli Paperboy Reed has been consistently making great music for over twenty years now. His music keeps sounding fresh, and he's become a veteran of the neo-soul movement. His latest single, "Love You More," is a duet with up-and-coming artist Zaniah. It has a little bit more of an R&B sound than his typical release, but it's still a killer soul song. It's a positive song that helps remind you why you love music so much. It's a bit of a cheesy love song, but when one is done as well as "Love You More," that's not necessarily a bad thing. We can pretty much guarantee we'll cover anything Reed puts out, and when it's this good, it's a pure pleasure.

Eli Paperboy Reed says of his latest single:

"When I was 21 and still living in Boston I sang with a gospel group, The Silver Leaf Gospel singers. The group had been founded in 1945 and all of the members were at least 50 years my senior. The founder and main lead singer, Deacon Randy Greene, became a mentor and close friend. When I met him, he had been married for close to 60 years and before my wife and I got married, she asked him how they did it. His response was simple: you just stay married. That’s what this song means. Whatever hard times you go through, respond with more determination, more commitment and more love. That’s the only way to make it last."

Glixen - "all tied up"

This new single might be the most classically shoegaze song they've released to date. It sounds like it could be a lost song from the Loveless sessions. It's filled with a heavy wall of fuzz and lumbers along at a midtempo pace. As always, Aislinn Ritchie's vocals have a slight pop sheen to them, even if they tend to take a backseat to the music surrounding her. This mixed with the absolutely punishing drums throughout "all tied up" make it a heavy shoegaze instant masterpiece. Ezra Furman - "Forever in Sunset"

Her latest single, "Forever In Sunset," combines elements of singer/songwriter fare, electronic music, and indie rock. It's an intense song that is almost a power ballad but is a little too heavy at times for that. It's a mish-mash of glam, adult contemporary, and post punk. That should not work at all, but most artists aren't Furman who apparently can do literally anything musically and make it masterful. The musical project of Mackenzie Scott has released a new single that features her vocals and acoustic guitar that would feel at home in a neo-folk song over a pre-programmed drum beat with sounds that at times are either a light squall of guitar feedback and electronic noises. The song has this haunting and unsettling feeling to it, despite sounding like it's trying to be upbeat. I'd say art doesn't always have to be a pleasant experience, but "I got the fear" can be a pleasant listening experience, except for the times it's not.
