Greet Death - "Country Girl"

Greet Death are a small town Michigan band formed in 2011 by elementary school friends Harper Boyhtari and Logan Gaval. For their upcoming album, the band recorded in Boyhtari's parent's basement in Davisburg, MI. The first single from the album, "Country Girl," has that sound Greet Death's fans have come to love. It's a dark version of shoegaze mired in knowledge of everyone's impending death. The song also sounds oddly organic for a shoegaze/doomgaze song. I wouldn't go as far as calling "Country Girl" folk or even folk adjacent, but there is something that makes the song sound as organic and earthy as folk music does. Plus, there is something oddly uplifting in the song, which is surprising considering how dark it is.

Harper Boyhtari says the new song is about "... identity, alienation, and detachment. It’s like trying to solve a murder mystery and finding out you were the killer the whole time.”

You can watch the video for "Country Girl" below. Die In Love is due out June 27 on Deathwish Inc, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Greet Death, check out the band's website.
