Orations - "Oh, the Horror"

I promise you we're not just posting a song called "Oh, the Horror" because it's October. Buffalo, NY's Orations are set to release their debut album later this year and just put out the first video from it. "Oh, the Horror" screams "college rock," as outdated of a term as that may be. It's this bizarre mix of older sounds that are consistently copied nowadays, but just not in this combination. You get the gothic feel of Siouxsie & The Banshees blended with The Cure's jangly guitars and some of Sonic Youth's mid-80s noise. It's a combination I never knew I needed until I heard "Oh, the Horror."

Orations debut album, Wych Elm, will be out sometime in the fall on Custom Made Music. You can watch the video for "Oh, the Horror" below. If you spent a lot of time watching student films in the 90s, it's guaranteed to press all kinds of nostalgia buttons for you. For more information on Orations, check them out on Bandcamp and Facebook
