Cincinnati's In The Pines just released a new single, and at first it's a pretty standard garage rock meets psychedelia rocker. "Speaking in Tongues" would be a great song if it stayed that way. It's a little bluesy and leans into Americana with some killer garage rock guitar. But then the song explodes into a 90's influenced alt-rock burst, and from there it opens up into a psychedelic frenzy. Despite the huge fuzzed out sound the song takes on, it somehow feels more laid back the louder it gets. It's an impressive introduction to the music of In The Pines and has us wanting to hear more sooner than later.
