The Red Pears - "See What I Mean"

Photo by Robert Nunez We've been impatiently waiting to hear new music from The Red Pears ever since we first heard "Didn't Realize" back in March. Friday will see the El Monte, CA trio release a new album, but they have a new single out now for those of us that can't wait that long. "See What I Mean" sounds like how The Strokes sounded twenty years ago, just slightly updated and with a slight Latin flavor. As soon as the opening guitar chords hit, you'll know exactly what you're in store for. It might feel a little strange that we're now in a revival for the garage rock revival of the early 00's, but once you hear "See What I Mean" you'll be thrilled that we are. Photo by Robert Nunez Hailing from El Monte, CA, The Red Pairs have one of the freshest takes on the 2000's indie rock/garage rock revival revival. The trio's latest single, "Didn't Realize," takes the sound of that era (particularly The Strokes) and injects the Latin-tinged sound of their childhoods. It's an amazing mixing of sounds, and is just enough of a change to refresh a twenty year old sound and make it fresh again.
