The Relationship - "Break Me Open"

The Relationship formed back in 2007 as Brian Bell's Weezer side project. (I could have sworn it was much earlier, but that was his previous side project, Space Twins.) Listening to The Relationship, it feels like Weezer is his job that pays da bills, and The Relationship is where he gets to artistically express himself. To be fair, The Relationship isn't groundbreaking. Their latest song, "Break Me Open," is a classic song in the style of The Relationship. It's a throwback to a throwback. In the mid to late 90s, there was this resurgence of bands playing music reminiscent of the groovy 60s and early 70s, and wearing vintage polyester shirts to match. That's what "Break Me Open" reminds me of. If you're looking for vintage Weezer (or whatever it is they do now), you're not going to find it here. This is pure southern California groove. Plus, it lets Brian Bell let loose on a guitar, and that's always welcome.

You can listen to "Break Me Open" below. The Relationship's new album, Clara Obscura, will be out April 21 on Rebel Union Recordings and Lolipop Records. For more on The Relationship, check out their website.

  9. There comes a day in every single person's life, that they say, "I don't want to be single anymore." And that's understandable stuff. We're not meant to be single for all that long. There are, however a few pitfalls that single people fall into that makes the coming out party a bit of a fizzer with lower probability odds of finding a healthy, sticky relationship than spitting and hoping that it'll hit the moon. So, I'd like to speak about increasing those odds of success in moving from single to double. how to know if a guy likes you
