Steve Geraci - "Voice in My Head"

Steve Geraci of The Tear Downs has a new solo single out that both sounds like Boston and nothing like Boston at the same time. "Voice in My Head" is a slightly off-kilter version of the kind of Boston power pop we cover quite a bit here at If It's Too Loud... It's a bouncy and upbeat sounding indie rock goes power pop song, and is kind of perfect for those of us in New England as we start gearing up for spring. It's catchy and infectious, but there's an element to "Voice in My Head" that doesn't quite fit the standard power pop template. Geraci adds just the slightest quirkiness (for lack of a better term) to the song that leaves the whole thing kind of sounding like Vampire Weekend meets T Rex.

Steve Geraci says of his new single:

“‘Voice In My Head’ is about the driving inner voice inspiring us to reach new heights or daring us to fail. It can help build you up, but also quick to knock us down or second guess; solving all your world issues when your head hits the pillow or when you’re out at dinner and it’s scolding you not to take the extra slice of pie or telling you to drive faster as you approach a yellow traffic light.”

You can listen to "Voice in My Head" below. The single is planned to be part of a new EP or album expected in either 2025 or 2026. For more on Steve Geraci, check out the artist's website.
