The latest single from Daisy the Great is a delightful burst of punk-ish energy. "Ballerina" combines punk rock with pop in a way we haven't quite heard. It's kind of like if The Donnas were both more raw and more pop. Plus, "Ballerina" is incredibly theatrical. It sounds like it's taken off of some unreleased punk rock Broadway musical. Not many bands can pull off raw punk at the same time as theatrical musical, but Daisy the Great prove it can be done, and done amazingly well. This is an infectious song that you'll instantly love, and immediately want to hear again just to make sure you heard it right the first time.
Daisy the Great say of their latest single:
“Ballerina represents a childhood dream of perfection: something that is unattainable, but real enough to give yourself something to compare yourself to. You look for the ballerina in the search for beauty, purpose, talent, body, and success — and prescribe it to the people you see around you and on social media, who seem to have that air of flawlessness. But the truth is they are also looking for ballerinas because we live in a society that feeds you this idea that even though you’re not perfect, someone out there is.”
