Amanda Ekery - "Yenobak Eih"

Amanda Ekery grew up half Syrian and half Mexican on the border town of El Paso, TX. Her upcoming album explores the shared history of both Syria and Mexico, and her latest single doesn't sound anything like what I had expected it to. "Yenobak Eih" starts out with a strong drum beat before Ekery's vocals start in. At this point, it would be safe to give the song the umbrella genre of World Music. As the song progresses, it becomes more piano driven and more along the lines of jazz. I would say "Yenobak Eih" isn't the type of music we normally cover here at If It's Too Loud..., but I can safely say we've never brought you anything like this before. Amanda Ekery has brought us such a unique and special sound merging folk, pop, and jazz that it's quite simply a must listen.

You can listen to "Yenobak Eih" below. Árabe is due out May 9, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp. For more on Amanda Ekery, check out the artist's website.
