The Melmacs - "Lazy Hearts"

Image
Photo by Dave Mante The Melmacs have quickly become our favorite punky power pop band from Dresden, Germany, and they've released one last single before their album comes out next week. We do have one complaint about "Lazy Hearts." It might just be too catchy. I've spent the entire day with "All the lazy boys, all the lazy girls" stuck in my head. Luckily, it's a great power pop track, so it's been an enjoyable earworm. This is a bouncy and catchy track that goes into the pop side of power pop, but with exactly the right amount of a punk edge to keep it from being too pop. The new album from The Melmacs is one of our most highly anticipated for next month, and "Lazy Hearts" will show you exactly why. You can listen to "Lazy Hearts" below. Euphancholia is due out April 10 on Spaghetty Town Records, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp . For more on The Melmacs, check out the band on Instagram and Facebook .

Brad Marino - "Devil May Care"

Image
For his latest single, Rochester, NH's Brad Marino is showing off his power pop side. "Devil May Care" has a much groovier side than we're used to hearing from Marino. Plus, the song has some killer slide guitar which gives off some country vibes, which are also new. We do get some keys in the song for some vintage garage rock goodness for "Devil May Care." The single clocks in at just under two and a half minutes, but somehow packs garage rock, power pop, country, and some 60's groove into such a short song. This is a fun one, and it's great to see Marino expanding his sound here. You can listen to "Devil May Care" below. Agent of Chaos is due out April 3 on Spaghetty Town Records, Ghost Highway Recordings, and Beluga Records, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp . For more on Brad Marino, check out the artist on Facebook and Instagram .

The Melmacs - "Bad Seeds"

Image
Photo by Dave Mante The press release for "Bad Seeds" says that the events in the song are a true story that never happened, but also happened exactly as described. If you like statements like that, the latest from The Melmacs is for you. The Dresden, Germany band pack a ton of fun and energy into the song, which is described as "punky power pop." The song is both pop punk and power pop, all while creating its own sound. Plus, if you like your songs extra hooky and catchy, you're going to love "Bad Seeds." This is rock and roll that demands you shake your ass, or at the very least to bop up and down. The Melmacs aren't a band for worrying if people think you look cool. This is a band to have fun and rock out to. You can watch the video for "Bad Seeds" below. Euphancholia is due out April 10 on Spaghetty Town Records, and is available to pre-order through Bandcamp . For more on The Melmacs, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram .

The Melmacs - "Keep On"

Image
Dresden, Germany's The Melmacs are back with more "punky power pop" goodness. Their latest single, "Keep On," is a wickedly catchy track that jumps between garage rock keys and alt-rock guitars. It's like if The Archies decided to try to go punk. For a garage rock/power pop track, there is a lot going on here. Most songs in those genres tend to be straightforward, but "Keep On" goes through multiple style and tempo changes in under four minutes. Throughout all the sonic changes, The Melmacs keep the song wildly fun and upbeat. If you love sugary power pop with just the slightest punk edge, you're going to end up loving "Keep On." You can watch the video for "Keep On" below. EUPHANCHOLIA is due out April 10 on Spaghetty Town Records, and is available to pre-order here . For more on The Melmacs, check out the band on Instagram and Facebook .

Brad Marino - "Calling Your Bluff"

Image
New Hampshire's own Brad Marino is back with yet another killer garage rock/power pop single. "Calling Your Bluff" is just simple, stripped down rock and roll. It sounds like it could have been released any time in the past five decades, with only some slicker production betraying that it's a modern song. Marino has been one of the most consistently great artists that we regularly cover here at If It's Too Loud..., and "Calling Your Bluff" fits right in with what we love about his music. This is fun, straight up rock and roll, and we can never seem to get enough of that style. You can listen to "Calling Your Bluff" below. Agent of Chaos is due out April 3 on Spaghetty Town Records, Ghost Highway Recordings, and Beluga Records. For more on Brad Marino, check out the artist on Facebook and Instagram .

The Melmacs - "Run for Your Life"

Image
Photo by Dave Mante Germany's The Melmacs are back with a brand new power pop punk single. "Run for Your Life" is a just under three minute burst of pure joy in rock and roll form. This is one of the most earwormy rock songs you've ever heard. It has all of the delight and rawness of early garage rock, but the polish and sheen of pop punk. This is rock music that demands you dance to it with its modern meets vintage vibes. Sometimes you just need a fun song, and The Melmacs are providing you with that. "Run for Your Life" is filled with killer riffs and some of the catchiest hooks of this century. And that's not even mentioning the organ, which might be the secret weapon of the song. You can watch the video for "Run for Your Life" below. The single is out now on Spaghetty Town Records. For more on The Melmacs, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram .

Brad Marino - "Murder & Violence"

Image
New Hampshire's favorite garage rocker is back with a new single! Brad Marino just released "Murder & Violence," which sees him slowing things down a bit and leaning more heavily into the power pop side of things. It's a jangly power ballad, with the tempo maybe just a half step faster than your typical power ballad. It's reminding me a lot of when the Ramones released a slow song. In typical Brad Marino fashion, "Murder & Violence" is a catchy and highly addictive new track that's going to happily become your new favorite earworm. I've been a fan of Marino's for a while now, and this new song certainly isn't changing that. You can watch the visualizer for "Murder & Violence" below. Agent of Chaos is due out April 3 on Spaghetty Town Records, Ghost Highway Recordings, and Beluga Records. For more on Brad Marino, check out the artist on Facebook and Instagram .

Micah and the Mirrors - "Hungry Hungry Heart"

Image
Photo by Jarrett Barnes Micah and the Mirrors is the solo project of Denver's Micah Morris, formerly of Fast Eddy. His latest single, "Hungry Hungry Heart," is a killer modern garage rock track. It's an amped up version of the genre, reminiscent of early Hives without the pop focus. (Ok, maybe "Hungry Hungry Heart" has a little bit of pop to it...) This is just pure rock and roll, without any pretense, and it's perfect for when you just want a rock song. Morris keeps just enough of a punk edge to the song, and the whole thing is just a burst of fun rock and roll. Crank this one up, and get ready to enjoy. You can listen to "Hungry Hungry Heart" below. Micah and the Mirrors' upcoming album is due out May 1 on Spaghetty Town Records. For more on the band, check them out on Instagram .

The Stripp - "If You Want Me"

Image
Spaghetty Town Records are one of the premier rock and roll labels around these days, so you know when they have a new release it's going to be great. Their latest is from The Stripp. The Australian band's latest single, "If You Want Me," is straightforward rock and roll without any excesses. It's garage rock laced with punk and power pop, which is a perfect mixture around these parts. This is driving rock music that's sneakily catchy, and all around great.  You can watch the video for "If You Want Me" below. Life Imitates Art is due out January 23 on Spaghetty Town Records, Ghost Highway Recordings, and Beluga Records. For more on The Stripp, check out the band on Instagram and Facebook .

Mala Vista - "Snub Nose .38"

Image
Photo by Emilina Filippo New York City's Mala Vista make the kind of punk rock that would be more at home in 1977 than 2025. Their latest single, "Snub Nose .38," is a fast and raw classic punk song. The song is reminiscent of OG punk bands like Ramones and Johnny Thunders, and with vocalist Myke Miranda occasionally sounding like Lux Interior, Mala Vista are doing the vintage punk sound perfectly. The guitars are the true weapon of "Snub Nose .38," with their buzzsaw-like sounding carrying the perfect level of menace. If you love punk rock at all, you're going to need to love Mala Vista. You can listen to "Snub Nose .38" below. The EP Snub Nose .38 is due out October 31 on Spaghetty Town Records and Ghost Highway Recordings. It's available for pre-order through Bandcamp . For more on Mala Vista, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram . Upcoming European tour dates are below the song. Snub Nose .38 EP by MALA VISTA 31 October Berlin, DE ...

Criminal Kids - "Bad Blood"

Image
It's been seven years since Criminal Kids released new music, but the Chicago punk band are back with a new single. "Bad Blood" has that unhinged garage rock meets punk sound that we tend to love around here. It's a hyped up, high octane song with a completely out of control guitar solo. If you love Motorhead as much as you love punk, "Bad Blood" is going to be right up your alley. To me, Criminal Kids don't sound like a midwestern band. This is the type of blend of early metal and punk that typically comes out of Europe. You can listen to "Bad Blood" below. The single is out now on Spaghetty Town Records. For more on Criminal Kids, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram . Bad Blood by Criminal Kids

Los Pepes - "Paradise"

Image
London's Los Pepes have a new single out, and you're going to need to check this one out. "Paradise" is an ultra fast power pop/garage rock single. It's like a punked up version of some our your favorite 60's garage rock songs, and it's both raw and polished at the same time. "Paradise" is a hard song to pigeonhole, because it's both pure power pop rock and roll as well as punk. Not many artists can stand on the narrow line between the two genres without committing more to one than the other, but Los Pepes pull it off expertly. This is one of the more fun rock songs we've brought you this year, and it's instantly infectious. You can watch the video for "Paradise" below. Out of the Void is due out April 25 on Spaghetty Town Records in the US, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp . For more on Los Pepes, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram .

Los Pepes - "Thoughtless Boys"

Image
Photo by Stuart MacDonald There are certain record labels that you generally know what you're getting and know it's going to be great. Based in Georgia, Spaghetty Town Records has been a go to of ours for punk, garage rock, and power pop. Their latest release is "Thoughtless Boys" from Los Pepes. The London band's new single is a 60's style garage rock track through a distorted punk rock filter. It's an amped up track that sounds like a merging of vintage garage rock, 70's power pop, and a more modern aesthetic. This one is going to be perfect for yelling out at a small club show in your favorite dive bar venue. Los Pepes could quickly become of favorite of yours and ours. You can watch the video for "Thoughtless Boys" below. Out of the Void is due out April 25 on Spaghetty Town Records, and is available for pre-order over at Bandcamp . For more on Los Pepes, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram .

The Peawees Cover The Remains

Image
Italy's The Peawees are celebrating their thirtieth anniversary with a new single and their first tour of the United States in twenty-seven years. The new single is a cover of The Remains' garage rock classic "Don't Look Back." If you're unfamiliar with The Remains, they're a Boston garage rock band from the mid 60's that opened for The Beatles on their final tour. "Don't Look Back" is a killer somewhat lost garage rock classic, and I'm personally thrilled to see an artist paying tribute to a band like The Remains. This is pure classic 60's garage rock with plenty of punk sneer thrown in to make it in the style of The Peawees. If you're as much of a garage rock fan as I am, you're going to love this one. You can listen to The Peawees version of "Don't Look Back" below. The single is out now via Spaghetty Town Records in the US, Folc Records in Spain, and Wild Honey Records in Italy. For more on The Peawees, c...

Clean Lines - Nuisance

Image
Photo by Mari Tamura Seattle's Clean Lines don't sound like what you picture a band from Seattle to sound like. The band is made up of musicians that have previously played in The Briefs, Circle Jerks, Geraldine Fibbers, and Boss Martians, but that doesn't define their sound, either. Their new EP, Nuisance , is four songs in eleven minutes of 70's style power pop with a slight edge to it. It's like a combination of Cheap Trick and New York Dolls. If you loved amped up power pop and glam rock, Clean Lines are going to be for you. These four songs are just straight up fun songs that are both retro and timeless. Nuisance could have come out anytime in the past fifty years and have fit in perfectly. Long live rock and roll, even though we've been led to believe it's a dying artform.  You can listen to Nuisance below. The EP is out on on Spaghetty Town Records in the US, Ghost Highway Records in Spain, and Wanda Records in Germany. For more on Clean Lines, check ...

Mala Vista - "Don't Owe You"

Image
Photo by Lauren Krohn If you like stripped down, no nonsense punk rock, you're going to love NYC's Mala Vista. The four piece has a new single and video out now, "Don't Owe You." It's a mixture of the early punk ferocity (and catchiness) of the Ramones and the 60's garage rock of bands like ? and the Mysterians. This is music designed to pogo to. The song clocks in at just under two and a half minutes, which is the ideal length for a song like this. "Don't Owe You" is dripping with attitude, and is practically begging to have the chorus screamed out at a live show. You can watch the video for "Don't Owe You" below. Fun Time is out now on Spaghetty Town Records, and can be ordered here . For more on Mala Vista, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram .

Bambies - "Devolution"

Image
Montreal's Bambies make the type of garage rock and punk that we all are probably too old for, but love anyway. Their latest single, "Devolution," is a fun and fast bratty punk rock song. It's the kind of song that could have been on either Taang! Records or Lookout back in the day. It's also a ridiculously catchy song, which is the true draw of "Devolution." It's all packed in at a little over two minutes, which is short enough to have you desperate to hear more. Luckily, this song only gets better with repeated listens. You can listen to "Devolution" below. Snotty Angels is due out September 27 on Spaghetty Town Records and Wanda Records, and is available for pre-order through Bandcamp . For more on Bambies, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram . Snotty Angels by Bambies

The Peawees - "Banana Tree"

Image
At this point, we know what to expect from The Peawees. The Italian garage rock band are masters of adding some soul and pop hooks into their raw rock sound. Their latest single, "Banana Tree," is a rough rocker that is smoothed out just enough by the pop and soul sensibilities to make it unbearably catchy. This is just a killer rock and roll song, pure and simple. The Peawees even add a spaghetti western guitar solo just to keep things interesting and sounding even cooler. Herve Peroncini says of his band's latest single: "During the pandemic, I was stuck in Tenerife in the Canary Islands. While I was there, I bought a guitar from an Egyptian guy for 30 euros to pass the time, and that's where I wrote most of our new album. I heard about a criminal who had fled Italy and come to the islands to start a new life—a plan gone wrong. It was the story that inspired me to write 'Banana Tree.'" You can listen to "Banana Tree" below. One Ride is du...

The Peawees - "Lost in the Middle"

Image
Italian garage rock heroes The Peawees have added a little bit of Spanish flair to their latest single. "Lost in the Middle" is a rock and roll number that is perfect for fans of pure rock music. Plus, they throw in a surf rock/Link Wray inspired guitar solo for added effect. As catchy as the chorus in "Lost in the Middle" is, it's the guitars that are the true heroes of the song. The Peawees have added a little more pop to the song than is typical in garage rock, but that doesn't dull the edge of the song at all. Somehow, it makes the song bite just a little rougher. You can listen to "Lost in the Middle" below. One Ride is due out September 6 on Spaghetty Town Records and Wild Honey Records. For more on The Peawees, check out the band on  Facebook  and  Instagram .

The Peawees - "The Wolf"

Image
Hailing from Italy, The Peawees have been making garage rock since 1995. Their latest single, "The Wolf," is just pure, shiny garage rock. The guitar riff has such a strong groove to it that you'll be immediately hooked, and it pairs perfectly with vocals that go between hypnotic and slacker. The Peawees have always added soul to their garage rock, and "The Wolf" includes some horror style surf rock guitar, making this one of the most fun rock songs we've heard all year. Sometimes you just need a fun song to rock out to, and The Peawees are perfect for that. You can watch the video for "The Wolf" below. One Ride is due out September 6 on Wild Honey Records and Spaghetty Town Records. For more on The Peawees, check out the band on Facebook and Instagram .
