The Dumpies formed in Austin, TX and are now based in Oregon. The band just released a brand new single, "Locked Groove," that is decidedly DIY. The song sounds like a marriage between Husker Du and Guided By Voices. (It certainly doesn't hurt those comparisons that the song is just over ninety seconds long...) It's a quickie burst of noisy yet joyous sounding DIY punk. It's fast and it's jangly, and it's a testament to The Dumpies that a song this fast is filled with more fun than aggression.
You can listen to "Locked Groove" below. Gay Boredom is due out October 19 on Dirt Cult Records. For more on The Dumpies, check out the band's website.
