Other Brother Darryl - "Sometimes"

"Sometimes" marks the first song from Boston alt-country supergroup Other Brother Darryl that doesn't include any recording contributions from bandmember Dave Mirabella, who passed away in 2022. The song is appropriately melancholy, which is also kind of a trademark of the band's sound. The other trademark is that their songs are surprisingly uplifting, which is the case with "Sometimes." It's the kind of song that can start off as background music, but by the end you're going to have stopped whatever you were doing to give the song your full attention. If you get to your destination before the song ends, you're going to need to stay in your vehicle until it ends, and probably start it over again. Other Brother Darryl have made one of the most powerful and compelling tracks to come out of the Boston scene in a long time.

Dan Nicklin says of his band's latest single:

“It’s a song to the universe and our loved ones, or maybe a self-help note just for ourselves. Maybe all three, that’s up to you."
