Boston punk legends The Dogmatics have been kicking around since the 1980's, and released their first new album in thirty years back in 2019. They're still releasing new music, and last week saw the release of a new single. "Library Girl" fits in with The Dogmatics' more recent releases. It's a slightly softer version of punk. It's more melodic and more along the lines of garage rock than traditional punk rock. Of course, the guitar is pure punk, and who doesn't want a song about having a thing about a librarian? The Dogmatics may have mellowed out a bit over the last forty or so years, but haven't we all? Even with all the melody and hooks, "Library Girl" is still garage/punk rock perfection.
You can listen to "Library Girl" below. The song is out now on Rum Bar Records. For more on The Dogmatics, check out the band's website. If you're around on Saturday the 21st, be sure to head over to Bellforge Arts Center for The Rat Reunion: Celebrating The 50th anniversary of The Rathskeller taking place at Bellforge Arts Center. The whole shebang is hosted by Boston radio legend Oedipus and also features Nervous Eaters and Tree. You can find more info and tickets here.
