Free Range - "Hardly"

Chicago's Free Range have quietly become one of the best voices in modern folk adjacent music. The project led by Sofia Jensen has released "Hardly," and if you're a fan of what Newport Folk Festival has been doing for the past ten years, you're going to be into this one. "Hardly" isn't traditional folk, but it does have that modern roots music/Americana meets indie rock sound that we tend to adore over here at If It's Too Loud... Free Range isn't rewriting the rules with this song. Instead, they're perfecting the genre. This is perfect for fans of artists like Courtney Barnett or Wednesday.

Sofia Jensen says of their latest single:

“I have a pretty easy time being honest lyrically and in music, and it feels like such an avenue for me to just express. But in my daily life, I'm a pretty private person and have a hard time telling people exactly how I feel…Being truly vulnerable with other people is a lot harder than you think.”

You can watch the video for "Hardly" below. Lost & Found is due out March 28 on Mick Music, and is available for pre-order here. For more on Free Range, check out the artist's website. Upcoming tour dates are below the video.
