If you're a Bootsy Collins fan, you're going to want to check out his latest single. The man is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and his career is simply legendary. However, we all know that just because someone made some of the greatest music of all time fifty years ago doesn't mean that their new music is going to hold up. Luckily, "Album of the Year #1 Funkateer" stands up with Collins' best work. If you love 70's funk and/or Parliament/Funkadelic, you're going to love this one. It doesn't really sound exactly like a song from the 70's, though. To me, it sounds more like a song from the post G-Funk era 90's that was borrowing and sampling heavily from the 70's. Regardless, "Album of the Year #1 Funkateer" is a fantastic funk track released in 2024.
Bootsy Collins says of his upcoming album:
“When I start on a project now, it's about getting the energy from people around me. Then I proceed to gather transmissions from the universe to know what to talk about. It's important to me to see who the universe brings to me, and I've been really blessed that every time I want to do a new record, I get these incredible musicians around me, right on time. That's what this album helps me do—Transmitting & receiving with different musicians and artists that have the same desire I had when I was their age.”
