Wussy - "Sure as the Sun"
Your favorite band's favorite band Wussy just released a new single off their upcoming album. "Sure as the Sun" is a Chuck Cleaver led song, and if you're already a fan, you know what to expect. Cleaver's songs tend to be on the rougher end of Wussy's Americana infected indie rock, and "Sure as the Sun" is both one of the stranger songs and kind of oddly accessible, too. This is the kind of music that can be an acquired taste. The uninitiated will hear this song and be confused, and some repelled. Others will be oddly intrigued and go back for another listen. For those of us already on the bandwagon, this is everything we adore about Wussy.
Chuck Cleaver says of the band's new song:
"What I write about has always been more or less a mystery to me but I suppose it’s about raging against what’s coming, trying to stay relevant, acknowledging your friends and loved ones and giving folks the benefit of the doubt until they prove to be dicks. Even though it has a downward tone I consider it to be one of my more hopeful songs. As hopeful as I get anyway."
You can watch the lyric video for "Sure as the Sun" below. Cincinnati Ohio is due out November 15 on Shake It Records, as well as two EPs. All three releases can be pre-ordered through Bandcamp. For more on Wussy, check out the band's website.
