Jean Caffeine - "Mammogram"

Jean Caffeine's time in the punk community stretches back to the 70's in San Francisco where she had a zine and played in shows with bands like The Bags and X. From there she moved to New York City and now resides in Austin. Her latest single, "Mammogram," is a bluesy folk-punk jam with a surprisingly dark edge. It's a slow song, but it saunters along with a menace. The song has a slight Western edge to it, and could kind of work in a Western film, albeit without the lyrics. This cinematic sound makes sense as Caffeine's bass player in Male Order Brides also adds scores to silent films.

Jean Caffeine says of her latest single:

"It's moody and scary (and funny) because mammograms are a nightmare. But seriously, mammograms save lives and women need them. With toxins in our air, food and water, breast cancer is no longer only a middle-aged woman’s issue. More young women are being diagnosed with breast cancer. So if you have breasts – get one!"
