Jodi - "Softy"

Jodi is the musical project of Chicago based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Nick Levine. Their music is "queer country," which is evident on their latest single "Softy." "Softy" has all the intimacy of a bedroom recording. It sounds like confessional singer/songwriter style music, but Jodi includes the slightest twang in there to edge it just barely into country. It's a lovely song that is only going to get better with repeat listens, and the kind of song that you're going to want to drop what you're doing and truly pay attention to.

Nick Levine says that the song "... is a letter to a friend, a reality check, and a reminder of the sheer scale of the world (and our relative smallness).

You can watch the lyric video for "Softy" below. Blue Heron is due out July 16 on Sooper Records. For more on Jodi, check out the artist's Facebook and Twitter.
