Jeff's Best of 2024 - #7: Junodream - Pools of Colour

Sometimes an album comes out of nowhere for you and just connects. Junodream's debut full-length did just that, and I'm a big fan.

Pools of Colour kicks off with a one-two punch of "Fever Dream" and "Death Drive," reminiscent of early-oughts dreampop while having a hazy-yet-polished feel, and the rest of the album doesn't let up. Songs like "Kitchen Sink Drama" keeps things moving, and closer "The Oranges" is objectively one of the most gorgeous songs of the year and had me hitting repeat more than a few times.

I compared them to Ambulance Ltd. in my early review, and while I stand by that, the album persisted throughout this year and truly stands on its own. Here's hoping for big things in the future.

Songs of Note: "Fever Dream," "Death Drive," "Pools of Colour," "Kitchen Sink Drama," "The Oranges"
