I first discovered Betty Davis thanks to an episode of About a Girl that profiled her. I was intrigued by the story of the funk legend who I had never heard of, and just how far she pushed boundaries with her overt sexuality in the 1970's. I listened to her albums on Spotify and became a fan immediately.
Now Light in the Attic is giving four of her albums a much deserved reissue. That includes unreleased music, and the first of that is "Crashin' from Passion." These four albums all met Betty Davis' approval before she passed away last year. This song is a raw funk song from Davis' final sessions in 1979. There is more than a little disco creeping into the sound, but this is still perfect for all fans of vintage, classic funk. If you're already a fan of Betty Davis, you already know you love this. If you're just discovering her, you're in for a treat!
You can listen to "Crashin' for Passion" below. The reissues of Betty Davis' albums are due out August 25 on Light in the Attic, and are available for pre-order here.
