New York City post-punk legends Bush Tetras are back with the title track off their upcoming album. "They Live in My Head" starts off like one of those classic Stooges jam/freak out they basically used to fill out an album. And then the speed and the noise comes in for the chorus, although it's a little more power pop than you might have expected. It's the kind of song that's not quite as weird as you might expect, but it's far too weird to be even remotely mainstream... although it kind of is. It's a jangly mess of a song, and I mean that as a compliment. For the second time today, I'm going to refer to a song as both punk and trippy.
You can listen to "They Live in My Head" below. The Steve Shelley produced They Live in My Head is due out July 27 on Wharf Cat Records. For more on Bush Tetras, Check out the band on Facebook and Bandcamp.
