Boston's Trash Rabbit are typically labelled emo, but their new single shows that they are much more than that. Sure, "Rock Bottom" is an emo song, but Trash Rabbit dabble in a wide range of influences. It's not just bands like Paramore and Joyce Manor that inspired the sound of "Rock Bottom." All four members have studied jazz, along with other individual influences like shoegaze, hardcore, R&B, and reggaeton. Jazz in particular seems to seep into this song the most. As emo and pop punk as "Rock Bottom" gets, there is this freeform feel to the song that you normally don't get in such rigid formats as punk or emo. This is a fairly new band that's already starting to push the boundaries of their genre, so be sure to keep an eye on them.
