Silk Daisys - "It's Just Like Xmas"

Back in October, we discovered Silk Daisys through their Halloween themed song "Haunted House." Now the Atlanta duo are back with a Christmas song, "It's Just Like Xmas." This new song shows off their more dream pop based sound. The song is wonderfully hazy with a winter chill embedded inside. Plus, the bells (which aren't quite jingle bells but close) fit in with the musical style perfectly. "It's Just Like Xmas" is the perfect style of song for those that hate Christmas music but still want to celebrate. The song is more about the coziness associated with winter than gifts or Santa. Silk Daisys have crafted a song perfect for the entire season, not just the holiday.

James Abercrombie says of his band's new holiday single:

“I wrote this one on Christmas Day last year. There’s always a moment of calm in our house after the initial excitement of Christmas morning, and I find myself playing guitar or piano during those moments and thinking about the year we left behind and the year ahead. I thought a lot about our kids, and I thought a lot about the kids who were currently living in countries that were being torn apart by war. The song ended up being a simple wish for peace, a calm all over the world like the ones I so often take for granted on Christmas afternoon.”

You can listen to "It's Just Like Xmas" below. The song won't be included on the album, but Silk Daisys' self-titled album is due out December 5, and is available to pre-order on Bandcamp. For more on the band, check them out on Instagram.
