Joy Buzzer - "You'd Be Surprised"

Sometimes killer rock and roll comes from an unlikely place. New York City's Joy Buzzer just released a fantastic new power pop single. The band formed in 2021 and is led by guitarist and songwriter Jed Becker. If you watch your kids' shows closely, you might recognize Becker as the composer and music director of Dora the Explorer and Go, Diego, Go! None of that sound is present in their latest single, "You'd Be Surprised." The new single is just pure power pop joy in the vein of an artist like Fountains of Wayne. It sounds like the kind of power pop that was made in the 90's that was inspired by the 60's. It's undeniably catchy and poppy, but with a little of that 90's alternative rock edge to it. Joy Buzzer are crushing it right now, and we're looking forward to hearing more from the quartet.

Jed Becker says of the band's latest single:

“The narrator of this little tale hasn’t hit bottom yet…but he’s certainly close to it. If I was the woman he’s trying to lure into sharing the ‘helluva ride’ he’s on, I’d run the other way. This one features a great Everly Bros.-type double lead vocal from singer Kevin Lydon, and more of the take-no-prisoners power pop our fans have come to expect from us. Enjoy!”

You can listen to "You'd Be Surprised" below. The single is out now on Wicked Cool Records. For more on Joy Buzzer, check out the band's website.
