Julia Jacklin - "The Hardest Thing"

I've been a huge fan of Julia Jacklin's since I first heard "Pool Party" in 2016 (It's been ten years!!?!?!?), and her latest single is one of her absolute finest. "The Hardest Thing" is a swoon worthy song that stands out in a catalog of swoon worthy songs. It also could be Jacklin's most mainstream single yet while also being her strangest. Something about the song swirls between being accessible and being artsy, but this is a prime example of a modern singer-songwriter goes alt-rock and folk at the same time. Depending on your mood, "The Hardest Thing" can come across as either uplifting and positive or deeply sad, and that's one of my personal favorite things that music can do.
