CHLSY - "vancouver"

Dream pop seems to be the genre of the moment, and we tend to be all in for it. The latest band we've discovered to play with that genre is CHLSY. The Nashville trio have just released "vancouver," and while it is decidedly dream pop it does pull from multiple related musical genres. "vancouver" has a little more edge and angst to it than your typical dream pop, most likely due to the subject matter. With this song, singer/guitarist Chelsea Gilliand is dealing with traumas from exes, death, and ex-friends, all through how she blamed the city of Vancouver at the time after her father took a job there. It's a grunge adjacent level of angst, but it's more a mid-90's power pop power ballad than a heavy rager. This is a song that's equally beautiful and painful.
