Plattenbau - "Crime / Scene"

Germany's Plattenbau seem like the kind of band I would have adored in college when electronic music was exploding everywhere. That's not to say that "Crime / Scene" is particularly a dance track, or even triphop. It's this impossibly dark form of post punk that is heavily reliant on synths. It's such a dark blend of post punk that it's almost sludgy. And then it falls into this blackhole of swirling high pitched noise that seems like it will never end as much as you may want it to until it finally breaks through into your subconscious and becomes your favorite part of the song. All of this and you can still dance to it.

You can watch the video for "Crime / Scene" below. Shape / Shifting is due out February 11 on Dedstrange. For more on Plattenbau, check out the band on Instagram.
