Live Shows: My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Die Sexual, and Devora, Paradise Rock Club, Boston, MA 11/4/25

I'm not going to pretend I'm a My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult superfan. I'm more of a casual fan of the electronic industrial band, but they are a band I've been listening to for roughly three decades now. Lately I've been trying to see bands I've never seen before, and Tuesday night's show at the Paradise worked with my schedule, so I decided to make the trek into the city to finally check out these legends for myself.

Even legends have technical issues sometimes, which is what happened when frontman Groovie Mann's microphone didn't work for the entirety of the opening song, "Room on the Moon." The audience took it in stride until it was fixed, and it certainly didn't affect anyone's enjoyment of the show. My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult have been doing it since the 80's, and they have a diehard fanbase that thrilled with every dark industrial song. It's easy to forget just how great their catalog is, with songs like "Kooler Than Jesus," "And this is What the Devil Does," and "Do You Fear (For Your Child?)" being well received.

The encore is where My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult thrived. "Shock Point of 6," "A Daisy Chain 4 Satan," and "Ride the Mindway" all left the audience ecstatic with their choice of entertainment for the evening. Plus, the band seemed to genuinely appreciate everyone in attendance, and for being diehard fans for this many years.

Die Sexual were the second band to play Tuesday night, and were exactly the type of band I would expect to open for My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. The duo of Rosselinni and Anton Floriano played a high energy version of dark electronic music, they busted through their set without a single break. They fit right in, and got the crowd dancing throughout their time.

Devora opened up the show, and while she was great, she didn't seem to fit in opening up for My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Doing a little Googling, I've seen her described as "Goth Dolly Parton" and "bridges outlaw country melodies with dark pop hooks." Tuesday night she played as a power trio, and sounded more along the lines of Local H meets Veruca Salt. Great alt-rock sound, but might not have been the best choice as an opener for this night.

On Repeat...
