Beatrice Deer - "Aukkauti"

Inuindie artist Beatrice Deer has a new single out that is going to blow some minds. The latest from the artist is "Aukkauti," a song that has a huge, theatrical scope mixed with shoegaze elements. It tells the story of Aukkauti, who accidentally shot and killed his friend's son. The grief-fueled rage from this led many Inuit to flee the area, and to Aukkati eventually being sentenced to death. The song is beautiful but mournful. Indie rock isn't typically as huge as this song is, and is feels more like it belongs in a musical than in an indie rock club. It's an intense and powerful song, and the emotion is palpable even if you don't understand the lyrics.

Beatrice Deer says of her latest single:

"'Aukkauti' is my favourite song on the album. Although the subject of the song is very tragic, making the song was such a great artistic experience for me. I had fun exploring my vocal abilities with our producer Mark 'Bucky' Wheaton."
