Porcelain - "Torch"
Photo by Pooneh Ghana Austin's Porcelain recently released a new 7" that is going to thrill fans of noise rock. "Torch" is going to remind a lot of people of Sonic Youth, especially with some of the guitar tunings going on. It's a three minute burst of a song that starts off with feedback before taking off. The song is insanely punk and drives straight through the listener, leaving pure chaos in its wake. It takes Daydream Nation era Sonic Youth and makes it a little more traditionally punk, complete with gang vocals and more relentless drums. "Torch" takes everything we loved about indie and alt-rock in the late 80's and early 90's and updates it for the modern day. Guitarist/vocalist Steve Pike says of his band's latest single: “Very much a song of anger and frustration surrounding the genocide in Gaza. I wrote it after feeling numb to the bombardment of images being shared, and the sheer loss of life being carried out and feeling helples...
