You most likely know David Lowery from bands like Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven. Now he's set to release a twenty-eight track solo album that doubles as his musical autobiography. The first single from that album, "I Wrote a Song Called Take the Skinheads Bowling," is about writing the song "Take the Skinheads Bowling" and where Lowery was at the time of his life. Despite being incredibly meta and a truly unique way to release an autobiography, the song is pretty great. Of course, that's not surprising given Lowery's musical pedigree, but it's always a treat when one of your long time favorites releases new music that's both good and interesting. We'll be looking forward to the upcoming album to see what other chapters in his life are put to song.
You can listen to "I Wrote a Song Called Take the Skinheads Bowling" below. Fathers, Sons and Brothers is due out May 30 on Cooking Vinyl. For more on David Lowery, check out the artist's website.
